Circular Tree-Surround Decking

This job called for a large circular timber deck built around an existing mature tree in a busy paved public square, working neatly around the tree's metal guard cage at the centre. Boards were run radially out from the middle to keep the circular lines clean and consistent all the way to the edge, cut in tight around site furniture and the surrounding block paving.

Working in a live public space meant fitting the build around pedestrian traffic and site barriers throughout, keeping the area safe while the deck went down.

Once the deck was laid, it was fully oiled to bring out a rich, warm finish and give the timber lasting protection against heavy footfall and weather in an exposed public setting. It's a good example of the larger-scale decking work we take on across Essex, beyond the more typical garden deck.
